Josh Conlon - Young Member of Durham County Council's Overview & Scrutiny Panel

Josh Conlon is a Youth Participant in many of Jack Drum Arts’ projects. Having been a participant for over ten years, he has become actively involved in Jack Drum Arts’ workings, volunteering at many of their events and projects and taking up one of two Youth Representative positions on the Jack Drum Management Board. Over the past decade Josh has grown through Jack Drum Arts, in terms of both talent and personality, and has overcome adversity thanks to the support offered here.

Liz Gill - Educational Representative and Deputy Chair

Following her retirement from teaching at Wearhead Primary in 2013, Liz has continued to be involved with the school as governor whilst also becoming involved in the JDA supported community theatre group Drama in the Dale, taking on directing roles for their Shakespeare productions. Liz is a dedicated volunteer for the National Trust in Cumbria as part of the Estate Management team and is always ready and willing to use her teaching experience to aid Jack Drum Arts and the broader community.

Paul Miskin - Arts and Culture

Paul Miskin is an accomplished audio artist, composer and performer with Soznak multicultural band, as well as an experienced conference speaker and published author. Paul also specialises in accessible open air performing arts and is Founder Director of Neighborhood Watch Stilts International- a large scale open air theatre company of international scale.

Louise Taylor - Chair of the Board

Louise Taylor is a County Durham based Photographer who since graduating from the University of Westminster in 1996 has worked and travelled widely. From nomads in Mongolia, organic wine production in France, Gypsies and Travellers of County Durham, local shooting syndicates and rare breed enthusiasts, her work focuses on rural issues, people and places. A strong connection to the land is a common thread throughout.

Jim Welch - Equality and Diversity

A powerhouse of initiative and musical innovation, Jim is an accomplished artist. A wheelchair user and also registered as blind in 2002, Jim has a wealth of experience with equality legislation as well as other areas of community interest. Refusing to bow in the face of adversity, Jim has gone on to not only pursue his 17 year passion in the art of playing guitar, but also teach himself to play a wide variety of other instruments from winds to stringsas well as teaching himself to touch type using a computer with specialist software called JAWS At present Jim is both Chief Executive and Founder of the North East Charity Blind Life in Durham.

Hannabiel Sanders - Equality and Diversity

Hannabiel is a bass trombonist and African hand percussionist as well as a composer and progressive music teacher who strives to teach her students different ways of using their voices to build and make unified communities through music. An African American Jamaican, originally from New Jersey-USA, she is currently living in Newcastle upon Tyne. She holds a BFA in Music from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University and both a Masters and PhD in Music Performance from Newcastle University.

Yilis Del Carmen Suriel - Marketing

Yilis trained as a printmaker and papermaker at Mason Gross School for the Arts, Rutgers University where she received her Bachelors in Fine Arts and received her Masters in Fine Arts from Newcastle University. Since then she has taken on pivotal roles as an educator, artist, and musician who believes in the empowerment of people to make positive social change.

Abi Hendron - Young Person's Representative

Abi Hendron is a prolific designer and visual artist within a range of mediums from paint on canvas to fibreglass and woodwork. Abi occupies one of the 2 youth representative positions on the Jack Drum Management board, acting as a voice for the young people across Jack Drum's provision and giving them a say in the organisation's various youth projects.
