Our Mission is to increase access to quality arts for people of all ages, particularly those who are disadvantaged or vulnerable, by delivering high quality, engaging, innovative and fun arts opportunities that promote selfexpression, wellbeing, learning and community cohesion.

Based in one of the most deprived areas of County Durham we bring unique and affordable opportunities to an area lacking in high quality arts and cultural provision, tailoring our approach to overcome a range of challenges. We also promote the role of professional arts practice in society through our own creative expression via theatre, film, music, digital and visual arts, championing creative technologies innovative approaches.

Our Vision is to sustain and develop Jack Drum Arts as a Centre of Excellence in participatory arts, by bringing artists and organisations together to collectively build a thriving arts and cultural sector in the County. We aim to inspire the next generation of artists to explore new approaches, reach their creative potential, and contribute to the rich culture of the region and the wider world.

Our Values are the belief that everybody has the right to access a varied and diverse programme of arts opportunities both in and out of education and regardless of background. Arts and culture are rich and powerful tools that break down barriers, bring communities together, celebrate diversity, promote and safeguard wellbeing, and improve people’s quality of life. We are passionate about inspiring people to grow and achieve through the discovery of the arts, and committed to nurturing talent and knowledge. No matter age, ability, gender, disability, the arts can capture the imagination of everyone and we’re dedicated to sharing these opportunities with as many people as possible.

A family business at heart, we are strongly rooted in our local community, but international in outlook, dedicated to bringing diverse culture to our local communities and creating opportunities for international working and learning for all.
