Jack Drum Arts are proud to be a Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) Strategy Site and provide YMHFA training courses in our local community.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is an internationally recognised training course, designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health in young people aged between 8 and 18, and provide help on a first aid basis.

This training is suitable for anyone aged 16+ inclusive of those who may work with children and young people, managers, parents/carers, siblings, friends and community volunteers to support young people with their wellbeing and signpost them to advice or other sources of support.

The 2 day course (9am – 5pm) covers such topics inclusive of but not exclusive to:

  • Risk & Protective Factors of Mental Ill Health

  • Depression & Anxiety

  • Suicide & Psychosis

  • Self Harm & Eating Disorders


The course aim is to provide people with the skills and confidence to spot the signs of mental health issues in a young person, offer ‘first aid’, and guide them towards the support they need- skills that can benefit not just the individuals around you, but also organisationally and within your community.
