Evolve

Evolve was a programme of creative engagement activities for adults age 16+ facing multiple disadvantages and complex barriers in moving themselves closer to employment or volunteering.  As part of the programme we delivered 3 courses as follows:

‘Being creative’ supported individuals to improve their mental health and emotional resilience through engagement in a range of activities including mindfulness, laughter yoga, nature walks, arts & crafts and creative writing. The activities also supported participants to ask questions, reflect and come up with imaginative approaches to deal with situations and personal problems whilst learning innovative ways in which to boost and maintain their wellbeing.

‘Community Reporting’ was rooted in personal skills development, working with individuals to give them the confidence and self belief to independently produce content that tells stories about their lives and raises awareness of the issues they faced with a focus on barriers to employment. This gave a voice to individuals who felt marginalised by the system, yet desired the opportunity to move themselves closer to the job market.

‘Active Citizens’ developed individuals understanding of local community issues, cross-cultural effectiveness, and broadened their connections and understanding of how creative activities can be delivered as social action projects. Through workshop activities participants developed a stronger sense of their own cultural identity, and how to work effectively with others using creative arts tools and methods.
