Wear Sounds

‘Wear Sounds’ followed on the heels of our previous successful Youth Music programme – ‘Wear Making Music’, and was drawn-up in response to our findings and experience delivering musical activities and training in rural South West Durham.

The project was a diverse programme of regular music-making activities, holiday projects and masterclasses for young people aged up to 25 years in South West Durham, Delivered by Jack Drum creative team, local music leaders and international guest musicians.  Sessions catered for both entry level and more experienced young musicians, that offered opportunities for progression whilst building confidence and self-esteem.

We had two weekly sessions on offer taking place at St. Cuthbert’s Centre, Church Hill, Crook, DL15 9DN.

World Music- Tuesdays term time 6:30pm till 8:00pm
Family Friendly drumming fun facilitated by both our trained staff and our talented young leaders! If you’d ever wanted to pick up a samba drum and get in touch with the sounds of Brazil in your very own locale, this was the session to be at.

Collective Music Making- Fridays term time 5:00pm till 7:00pm
Our weekly rock band sessions! Our youth band Plank came together to create music once a week in a friendly space and a relaxed and casual atmosphere. This provision was accessible to all skill ranges and abilities from absolute beginner through to accomplished performers.

If you have any questions or queries about this project please email james@jackdrum.co.uk and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
