One For All

A social action project raising awareness about racism experienced by young refugees when they arrive in the UK. Conceptualised, developed and created by a group of young people working with Ziad Badawi and Jay Conlon, the group formed from a shared desire to speak openly about equality from their perspective as local young people and young refugees.

The group were supported by musician James Lane and animator Sheryl Jenkins to create a music video on the themes of identity, equality, erasure, hope and confidence through a narrative that spoke to the group’s personal experiences.

The project was part of a peer research project about youth violence delivered by Youth Focus North East. Funding for the production of the music video was provided by The Key.
